Monochrome Watch Review: The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Dual Time

The 1966 Collection by Girard-Perregaux is defined by its clean, pure and refined design. We at replica Monochrome Watches have hailed its styling before, when we reviewed the 1966 Blue Dial and the more recent 41-mm edition. This collection also includes numerous complications, such as an Equation of Time and Annual Calendar, a full calendar and even a Minute Repeater. The only missing function was a second time zone. This void is now filled with the introduction of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Dual Time.

The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Dual Time features design codes typical of the 1966 collection. However, it adds not only an extra hand to indicate a second time zone but it also introduces a new layout and some more depth to a very classical and clean design.

The 40-mm 18k rose-gold case uses the same elegant curves, with short lugs and rounded case-bands, so the novelty is not here (and it’s a good thing, because this case is extremely nice to behold and to wear).

Aesthetically, the most notable development is in the display and the dial. Available in a bright off-white or a dark charcoal, it comes with curved and protruding gold indexes that match the case and the hands. Inside this dial, a 24-hour track, slightly contrasting with the main dial, indicates the additional time zone with the aid of a red pointer hand. At 6 o’clock, we find a useful date function, displayed by a rotating hand within a circular subdial. This sub-counter is circled with a gold ring, creating additional contrast and a refined final touch. The multiple steps, layers and tones of this dial create a more complicated feeling and bring a pleasant depth to a design that is usually very clean, maybe even too clean.

On the right side of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Dual Time we find two pushers (on both sides of the fluted crown, just as on a chronograph). These are used to quickly adjust the hour hand to the local time, forward or backward in one-hour increments. The adjustment is thus easy and the pushers elegantly integrated. The best Swiss replica watches for sale is powered by the famous Calibre GP-3300 (with the added functions, it becomes the GP-3300-0094). It boasts 46 hours of power reserve and ticks at a modern 4-Hz frequency. The nice finishing (Geneva stripes, gold rotor, blued screws and polished beveled angles) can be seen through the sapphire caseback.

On the wrist, this added complexity and depth does not change the elegant feeling of the previous, simpler editions of the Girard-Perregaux 1966. The size is definitely restrained and will perfectly compliment a dress outfit. Simply, by adding some complications, GP has renewed the 1966 with a fresh, elegant replica watches for uk and balanced design. The new functions – GMT and date – are practical and have been very tastefully integrated, removing none of the inherent beauty of the 1966.

The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Dual Time, regardless of the edition, is priced at 24,200 euros.

Dive Watch Wednesday: 5 Ultra-Complicated Dive Watches

If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to spend less money this year on best replica watches for sale, you might want to skip this week’s edition of Dive Watch Wednesday: Most mechanical dive watches are priced under $10,000 (even though the iconic Rolex Deepsea, Sea-Dweller, and Submariner watches, as well as many Blancpain Fifty Fathoms models, might go for a bit more nowadays), but there are several types of fascinating dive watches that go way beyond that.

Most of these are ultra-complicated watches, for collectors who either have the financial means to pay someone to go diving for them, or — on a more serious note — those who simply do not want to go for a swim while wearing a perpetual calendar from Patek or Lange (which is as understandable as it is recommended). Others are simply aimed at enthusiasts who appreciate high-end, robust watches (with more than a date for a complication) with the looks of a classical diver. Here are five that made my list.

IWC Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month (IW3794): This boutique-only perpetual calendar features a rubber-coated titanium case and a rose-gold bezel; it is not only the most complicated IWC Aquatimer, but also the largest IWC watch ever made, with a diameter of 49 mm.

Richard Mille RM 032: This flyback chronograph offers a big date and power-reserve display and a locking crown that locks and unlocks the chrono pushers. The case is made of titanium and measures 50 mm in diameter.

Breguet Marine Royale (5847BR/Z2/5ZV): This alarmingly beautiful 45-mm Rolex replica watches sale comes in (among other materials) an 18k gold case and is water-resistant to 300 meters. The crown at 4 o’clock sets the mechanical alarm, and there’s also a power-reserve indicator and a bezel-locking mechanism. And if you don’t like the rubber strap, you can order it on a gold bracelet as well.

Blancpain X Fathoms (5018-1230-64A): When it comes to complicated dive watches, Blancpain offers you by far the most professional option with this large, 55-mm mechanical cheap replica watches uk that could actually compete with a dive computer. The X Fathoms combines depth measurement (up to 90 meters) with maximum-depth-reached memory, a separate indication on the 0-15-meter scale with an exceptional +/- 30 cm precision, and a retrograde five-minute counter for decompression stops. Oh, and it tells time, too.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Diving Pro Geographic Navy SEALs (1852470): For all those dangerous missions far away, the Diving Pro Geographic is fitted with a mechanical depth gauge and allows you to select a city simply by rotating the crown to display its time on a large disk at 9 o’clock. The 46-mm-diameter case is made of 18k rose gold and water-resistant to 300 meters.
